PreAuricular Sinus
This a common congenital anomaly where there is an opening in front of the pinna. This opening often leads to a tract or a sac. These can occur only on one side, or both sides.
They sometimes have been associated with hearing loss. Surgery is only recommended if any infections have occurred or the patient is troubled by unpleasant discharge. The life time incidence of infection is reported at around one in every three.
