Discharge or secretions coming out of the ear may be due to a number of reasons that may need medical opinion. While occasionally this may be due to liquid ceruman (wax), more often it signifies an infection in the ear. Infections may involve the outer ear (otitis externa) or the middle ear (acute otitis media or chronic otitis media).
