Speech Delay
Children with delays in speech development should be seen by a team of doctors, audiologists, and speech therapists from our partner; SpHear – Speech & Hearing Clinic. While we understand that children develop at their own different times, there are many medical conditions that can contribute to delays in speech and language development. These include hearing loss (which may even be partial and go unnoticed), problems with mouth and tongue affecting their movement, learning disorders, and developmental issues.
It is advisable that in such a situation the child should be seen at least once by the team at an early age, to rule out these causes. As the brain learns language best in the early years of childhood, early treatment of these problems will eventually lead to better speech and language development.
