Lymphangioma
Lymphangiomas are rare congenital malformations due to an abnormal development of the lymphatic system. They are often present from birth but can develop in the first few years of life, frequently coming to light following an upper respiratory tract infection. These are soft but rapid enlargement can be caused by infection or bleeding into the cysts. Diagnosis is confirmed initially by ultrasonography or MRI.
The options for treatment include either surgery or intralesional injection with sclerosing agents. Your paediatric otolaryngologist will discuss theese with you and help you decide which is more suitable.
